Meets every Thursday 11:30am to 2:00pm at the Harpurhey Neighbourhood Project Carisbrook Street, Harpurhey, Manchester M9 5UX

Formed in February 2023, the Harpurhey Branch meets weekly to collectively navigate local housing issues such as damp and repairs in social housing, rent rises in private rented accommodation and no fault evictions. The Branch has a seat at the Manchester Communication Academy's housing steering group meetings where our members represent themselves in front of senior members of the Council, housing providers, charities and other decision makers surrounding housing.

The Branch has successfully secured regular meetings with Manchester City Council's Director of Housing Operations, persuaded the Council to hold regular face to face housing surgeries for local tenants, created a campaign against fly tipping, secured enforcement notices against bad landlords and more.

The Branch runs a pay-as-you-feel café called The B-line Cafe that coincides with our weekly meetings where anyone is welcome to join us for something to eat and discuss your housing issues. The café intercepts surplus food from local supermarkets and we grow our own produce on site so that we save waste resources whilst creating new ones. We have hot and cold food and drinks and serve on a pay-as-you-feel basis, meaning that you can choose how much you can contribute or even better, join the branch and volunteer your time.

The B-line Café is open every Thursday 11:30am to 2:00pm at the Harpurhey Neighbourhood Project.

If you are interested in joining the Harpurhey Branch, we would love to hear from you. Please email harpurhey@tenantsunion.org.uk for more information.
